Giveaway: Someday, Someday, Maybe

Someday, Someday, Maybe - Lauren Graham Zooey Magazine is excited to collaborate with Random House to present our latest giveaway of the novel "Someday, Someday, Maybe" by actress Lauren Graham (Parenthood, Gilmore Girls).

Description of the book - "It’s January 1995, and Franny Banks has just six months left of the three-year deadline she set for herself when she came to New York, dreaming of Broadway and doing “important” work. But all she has to show for her efforts so far is a part in an ad for ugly Christmas sweaters, and a gig waiting tables at a comedy club. Her roommates?her best friend Jane, and Dan, an aspiring sci-fi writer?are supportive, yet Franny knows a two-person fan club doesn’t exactly count as success. Everyone tells her she needs a backup plan, and though she can almost picture moving back home and settling down with her perfectly nice ex-boyfriend, she’s not ready to give up on her goal of having a career like her idols Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep. Not just yet. But while she dreams of filling their shoes, in the meantime, she’d happily settle for a speaking part in almost anything—and finding a hair product combination that works.

Everything is riding on the upcoming showcase for her acting class, where she’ll finally have a chance to perform for people who could actually hire her. And she can’t let herself be distracted by James Franklin, a notorious flirt and the most successful actor in her class, even though he’s suddenly started paying attention. Meanwhile, her bank account is rapidly dwindling, her father wants her to come home, and her agent doesn’t return her calls. But for some reason, she keeps believing that she just might get what she came for.

Someday, Someday, Maybe is a story about hopes and dreams, being young in a city, and wanting something deeply, madly, desperately. It’s about finding love, finding yourself, and perhaps most difficult of all in New York City, finding an acting job."

The book is incredibly charming, and is surely something for us women (or men) to read!

Crafts & Cocktails

Of all the parties we've ever hosted, our "Crafts & Cocktails" is by far our favorite. We hosted this afternoon party with our friends Emma and Elsie from A Beautiful Mess (our ultimate favorite blog!) and our best friends from Ruche (hello Beth and Mai!). And luckily, we had the prettiest venue - the Seychelles Shoes showroom (it's heaven on earth!). Crafts and Cocktails, Zooey Magazine

So what did we all do instead of bunch up in the rooms? We set up five fun DIY booths: Seychelles hosted a shoe clip DIY (to die-for), OPI taught guests how to do nail art!, Goodie Girls Cupcakes introduced guests to some professional cupcake frosting techniques, Ruche showed people how to make clothing hangers extra special with strips of fabric (can easily be done at home with old clothes even!), and Emma & Elsie showed how to make bowtie clips (which were rocked by both guys and girls!). Then we hosted the ultimate photo booth...the Impossible Project Polaroid booth, which made quite the souvenir.

Of course, no creativity can be fueled without the help of Cake Bar cupcakes, DEUVO pralines, Vici Victual gourmet cookies, ACTIVATE water, and also Vita Coco (their Coco Cafe...so yummy!).

Each guest took home a glassine bag decorated with Wishy Washi tape and sealed with an Erin Condren label. Inside each bag were a Sugar Dayne cookie, Le Bon Garcon caramels, Ruche gift cards, an OPI bottle from the Selena Gomez collection, a Mirabella lip gloss, and everyone took home polka-dotted oven mitts from Sugar Baby Aprons. Of course, we have to treat our guests right!

Special thanks... Found Rentals for the beautiful vintage furniture, Elaine Pow, Mai Olivo, Beth Stevens, Jessica Gary, Laura Williams, Zooey interns and volunteers, Roneil Chavez, Jane Sha, Chris, Doug Duong, Wireimage, Shine On Media, and the best guests we could ever ask for!
