Mornings | The Moore Family

Mornings have slowly become our favorite party of the day, and it's not just because of breakfast. Waking up to a new day is like hitting the reset button and Heather Moore's family does it best - with a dance party.

What is your general morning routine?

As of late, I've been working well into the night. Because of this, I'm often the last one out of bed. Penelope, our 3-year-old, is our early riser. Bryce (husband) gets her out of bed every morning and together they have breakfast. She really values her one-on-one time with him in the mornings. When our littlest wakes up, Bryce brings him in and we lazy around in bed for a half hour or so.

After Bryce leaves for work, I try to get the kids dressed and out in the yard even if for just a few minutes. They are happiest when we are outside. The rest of the morning is spent on the front porch swing bird watching (we have the most amazing blue jays and cardinals in our yard!), walking down to our favorite farm stop, or out exploring with friends. I'm trying my best to put work aside and be present in the mornings. It's hard, but I've come to find that mornings have become my favorite part of the day.

What is the one thing you must do or must have to start the morning off well?

Music. It's our thing. We're known for having dance parties at 7 AM. Bryce puts together the best playlists, and it always puts us in a good mood. Both kids love it.

If you've had a bad yesterday, how do you prepare for a good morning especially when you have two little ones to look after?

When I get overwhelmed, long chats with my husband after the kids are in bed, or a late night get-together with my girlfriends is like hitting reset.

The best breakfast is...?

A breakfast that I can sit down and eat. We are always running in different directions and rarely do we get to just sit and enjoy. I'll take a breakfast that isn't on-the-go any day!

What is your ideal morning?

An ideal morning would be an unrushed morning. Preferably a Saturday with Bryce home and no appointments or commitments. We'd lounge around, open up all the windows, and make breakfast in our pajamas.
