Scott Michael Foster is officially your human-Kristoff from Frozen, the movie that just appears to be a never-ending phenomenon in audiences who are mostly of knee-high height. But it evidently doesn't stop there, considering Once Upon a Time's incorporation of the Disney film into its upcoming season. It's gotten us quite excited to see how the show will bring the dynamic trio (Kristoff, Anna, and Elsa) into Storybrooke.
Before Scott gets whipped away into this alternate land, we spent a day with him to see what Kristoff is like in person. We've found out he's swell. Really swell. And he definitely knows how to charm or rather, swoon an audience.
First off, you've got one of the most anticipated TV roles this fall season. Be honest, did you have Let it Go-itus at all before signing on? We couldn't go out to anywhere public without hearing someone belting out the song! Should we expect "Once Upon a Time" to do a musical number... Or is that wishful thinking?
I've definitely heard that song enough times already. My youngest niece knows all the words to the "Frozen" songs and sang them on repeat for months. And I wouldn't suggest holding your breath for a musical number on the show, I don't think that's in the cards this season.
So we got to spend a day with you and realized you're the sweetest guy ever, you're talented on so many levels. Are you the kind of guy who would break into song and dance anywhere at any time?
Thanks! I like you too. I grew up singing and dancing in high school and it's fair to say that I bust out into a song or a pirouette every now and again.
What instruments can you play? You jammed on the guitar and piano for us. How long have you been practicing? What are your go-to songs?
I'd say I can play those two instruments mediocre at best. I was better when I was in a band but not having played in awhile made me realize I'm a bit rusty. Practice makes perfect. I like playing Weezer on the guitar and Coldplay on the piano.
What does a regular day entail when you're not filming something?
When I'm not working? Oh, I spend time with my two wonderful dogs, workout at the gym, and hang with friends. It's a good life.
You're a pretty laid back guy! How would you describe wardrobe style?
I'm not very fashion savvy so I'll give all the credit to the stylist [of the shoot]. But I try to learn a few things about what to wear along the way. I'm getting better.
A whole bunch of shows are about to premiere this fall. Aside from "Once Upon a Time," what are you anxious to see?
Oh man, I don't know. The funny thing about working in TV for me is I don't really watch a whole lot of TV!
Well, the year isn't over yet! Who are the people you want to film with this year but haven't yet?
I'll work with anyone. I love to work.
It seems like you're quite the family man. Your niece and nephew are adorable. Do they know what their uncle does for a living? Are they stoked about your Kristoff portrayal?
This is the first time they've actually been excited about a job I'm working on. Usually they just say "Whatever, it's just Uncle Scott." Now they're paying more attention because I'm playing a character they like.
Everyone knows you're a hilarious (yes, we stalked your Twitter and IG). Do we see a possible writing career I'm the near future?
"What do you mean I'm a funny guy? How am I funny?" (Joe Pesci? Goodfellas? Anyone?) I've written a couple things and I hope one day to have them on the little and/or big screen.
Life in LA is pretty busy right? For downtime, where do you like to hang out? And we saw that IG photo of yours about parking. How do you avoid all the LA madness when you want some peace and quiet... and ease!
Haha. It's crazy in LA! "Sightseeing bus parking only?" Come on. If I want to unwind, I'll take my motorcycle for a ride or do a little picnic at Griffith park or the beach. Nature is always calming.
