For your wardrobe I see lots of patterns, like polka dots and floral designs. How would you describe your style?

I'm versatile. It depends on my mood! Sometimes I will wear an Equipment top with colorful pattern because it's more playful, sometimes I will wear an ACNE jacket with badass leather biker boots by Fiorentini Baker and Rag&Bone jeans. I just learned how to tie a bow tie at Theory store, where I bought 2 shirts and 2 bow ties! Also I love to mix Zara, Topshop and H&M with more expensive brands.

The multi-tone hair is so cute! What inspired the hair color?

Thanks! I did it for a movie. "Hacker's Game" by Cyril Morin. I had to play a computer hacker kind of punk. So I decided to dye it purple. I thought it would bring a grunge and futuristic vibe. I kept it since! I go to Goodform Salon on Fairfax cross Melrose. My hairdresser is Jay Diola and he's amazing.

Awesome bike! How long have you been riding motorcycles? How did you find a love for them?

I always had a scooter (sky blue Vespa) in Paris. When I moved to LA I didn't have any driver's license so I bought a moped (Tomos). It's so rare in LA that people were looking at me like a weirdo and constantly ask me questions about the motor, how fast it goes etc. I have a driver's license now and a motorcycle license! I will buy a vintage customized badass motorcycle next time I get a role. Looking forward to do road trips with it.

Speaking of loves – how’d you fall in love with acting? How did your career get started?

I took acting lessons when I was 19 and I loved it. I felt good on stage, I felt warm. The connection with the audience is magical. You can move people, make them laugh. Never be afraid to be ridiculous. Take risks! After a few months, I won a theater competition. Then I got my first role and my first agent. That's how I got started.

The egg chair swing is really neat! I love it! Where did you find that?

Maison Bertet on Beverly Boulevard. All my patio furniture comes from this store. I had a crush on this egg chair. I feel like in a nest when I'm in it.

Where do you like to shop for your home? Do most of your pieces come from a specific place or is your décor more eclectic?

I got my green armchairs, coffee table and mirror from New Orleans when I was shooting "Oldboy." I fell in love with La Belle Nouvelle Orleans, an antique store on Magazine Street. I had really nice conversations with the owner. He comes from Argentina and he was telling me stories about the furniture while I was playing with his dog in the store. I shipped furniture from New Orleans to Los Angeles even before having visited the apartment in LA that I was supposed to live in! Every furniture in this store has a soul. I mixed it with stuff from Ikea and CB2.

I saw that you had a ‘Wes Anderson’ book? Is he your favorite director?

I love this director. His movies are so charming, original, funny and poetic. The cover of the book was so pretty that I bought it immediately.

Tell us more about your acting resume (The latest addition being Spike Lee’s "Oldboy"). What kind of roles have you played? What is your favorite role to date?

I have played many different roles. I have been a nomad in Oriental Siberia riding reindeers and horses, I have been a computer hacker kind of punk, a bodyguard/lover in "Oldboy" by Spike Lee. Each experience has been important and leaded to the other one. Working in the US and with Spike Lee in particular changed a lot for me because it was my dream of course, and I got an O1 Visa thanks to the movie. It gave me the opportunity to move to the US. The better is yet to come!

Conversations | Rose McIver

Today, we caught up with Rose McIver, one of the newest and beloved additions (Tinkerbell!) to one of our favorite shows - "Once Upon a Time." She welcomed us into her home and it was indeed, a very lovely afternoon with this sweetheart.

You are one of many rising stars here in Hollywood who originated from New Zealand. What can you tell us about your hometown? I grew up just outside of Auckland - at the beach. It is beautiful and communal and the air is fresh. I love our sense of humor as kiwis and its so nice to head home to some peace and quiet.

What attracted you to Hollywood? It’s so far away from home! Work! It's very much the hub for film making and television and was much easier to get regular employment as an actor for me here.

Now you’re living out a fantasy many kids have had – playing the role of Tinker Bell! What’s it been like playing this Disney classic on Once Upon a Time?

It's such an honor to play a fairy tale icon. I'm always taken aback when I think about how fortunate I am to be able to inhabit such a delightful character on this show. We have such a great cast and crew and I have been having a lot of fun.

Did you grow up watching Disney films? If so, who are some of your favorite Disney characters (besides Tinker Bell, of course)? Yes! I was always mad on Simba and Nala, and the genie from "Aladdin." There are so many eclectic and three dimensional characters in Disney's classics. Definitely a big influence on me.

Zooey is really big on the vintage fashion look. How would you describe your own personal style? Do you share our same love? I love vintage dresses. I like classic feminine garments and then occasionally I will break it up with something structural like a chunky coat or cute shorts. I often work with a brilliant stylist, Devon Nuszer.

Do you have a favorite piece you love to wear/can’t give up? My Rachel Comey black ankle boots. They are beautiful and incredibly easy to pair with anything.

Tell us about your hobbies! What do you enjoy doing on your downtime? I play guitar and sing. I also write in various forms, stories, poems, and more recently screenplays. I am a good baker - much better at baking than at cooking dinners - I like diligently following a recipe.

Where’s the sleek white guitar from? It belongs to my gorgeous friend Gin Wigmore who's an awesome rockstar. She has several beautiful guitars.

How do you decorate your home? Do you seek certain pieces or are you more eclectic? I have lived in so many homes in the last few years with traveling so I have learned to adapt. My mum Annie McIver is a brilliant sculptor and potter so I like to have some of her work around no matter where I am.

What’s your favorite room? The sun room at my parents' house. It overlooks the water and there is a family of doves that live in the window frame.

What’s your daily routine like? Like is there anything you have to do otherwise the day is thrown off? I love to start the day with exercise. Running is normally my go-to, or I will hike or do yoga or an exercise class. It clears my head and wakes me up for the day.

Hollywood has lots to offer. Are there any particular kinds of roles you really want to try out for? Like action or comedy or drama? I have really enjoyed dipping my toe into comedy in the last couple of years - only really in a small capacity though so that's something I would like to pursue. My tendency though has always been towards drama, I like stories rife with conflict and tension and suspense. Stories and characters that are put in all manner of psychologically challenging situations. I like to generate ethical questions in an audience.

Experiencing Copa Vida

Zooey Magazine, Copa Vida Copa Vida is based in Pasadena (Old Town), and it is the most amazing place for coffee and tea lovers. What they sell isn't exactly just a drink...it's an experience. The Copa Vida team put so much thought into creating their store - from the height of their furnitures, to the size and amount of ice cubes they put in their iced drinks. Their passion is incredible, and we were so excited to try more of their drinks after stumbling upon their cafe before a shoot.

When we walked in...our immediate thoughts were, who designed the interior? It's bright, spacious, but not empty. We were sold.

We ordered some lattes, sat down at the counter table by the window...and our first sip was heavenly. Since then, we couldn't wait to come back and try more.

Their coffee grinds come selectively from Ethiopia, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz. Each cup of coffee is more than just about drinking it. Their slogan reads "coffee, tea, life" which translates to the community experience they wish to offer through their coffee and tea. You can come in, purchase a cup, and sit down for a friendly conversation with friends and family.

So whenever you're in town, stop by. It's the perfect place for not only meetings, but for that afternoon date you've been dying to have.

We hope you visit Copa Vida...we're heading back soon too!
